About

I’m Alessa Burton

“A journey of 1,000 miles begins with the first step.”

My name is Alessa Burton. I was born and raised in San Diego, California and grew up in foster care. I was lucky enough to not have to bounce from home to home. Instead, my foster parents had full custody of me (different from adoption) and I got to stay in touch with my family on my biological mother’s side. I later got in touch with my biological father and his side of the family.

Through the years, I went through many changes just like so many people around the world. So much so that many might call me eclectic. I could be uber girlie with pink ruffles and curls. I also have a tom boy side where I could hang and joke around with the guys. I’m also a bit of a heavy metal chick. Don’t get me wrong I love music from nearly every genre. From Mozart to Metallica, my music range is extensive. I also have a goth side and have an appreciation for the dark. I have so many other sides of me that if I talked about all of them this About Me section would be too long to bother reading.

But there was one thing that stuck around throughout my life and was the lessons learned from my great grandmother Joanne Anselmo. Italian to the core, she emphasized the importance of having proper manners and etiquette for every occasion. Her style and fashion was comparable to Audrey Heburn. She taught me that our behavior and how we carry ourselves is of the utmost importance. I didn’t understand it as a child but now in my 40s I’ve been instilling the timeless lessons that amazing woman handed down to me.

Like anyone, I’m always learning and my journey has just begun. But, I hope to share all I have learned with anyone who wishes to know.
